Phillip Guzman - Writer/Director
Phillip Reyn Guzman was born in San Benito, Texas. At the age of 3 his mother and father got jobs with the U.S. government working in Germany, where Phillip spent the next 15 years of his life. Upon graduating from high school, he moved back to America where he attended college at Stephen F. Austin State University. His senior thesis film, The Gulf, was a finalist in the 2005 International Student Film Festival in Hollywood. In 2006 Guzman began developing the concept for his first feature film The Lawless, a crime thriller, teaming Guzman with Philip Roy, his college DP and editor. During preproduction, Guzman and Roy realized they didn't have enough money to make the film. They had only $7,500 and a 4-man crew. They made the film anyway and took honors at the Hollywood HD Film Festival, turning many heads at what they were able to accomplish with such a small budget. Desdemona: A Love Story is Guzman’s sophomore film. Guzman immediately followed Desdemona with 2:22, a highly anticipated heist film featuring such veteran actors as Val Kilmer & Gabriel Byrne.
James LaMarr - Producer
James LaMarr is an award-winning feature film producer with more than a decade of experience in the entertainment industry. He started his entertainment career after college at Texas A&M University in front of the camera as an actor, a passion he continues to pursue alongside his new love for producing great films. James has appeared in dozens of film & television projects, including Closet Space, 2:22, and Fox’s Prison Break. In addition to Desdemona: A Love Story, James’ producing experiences include The Lawless, Rockabilly Baby, 2:22 & the highly anticipated upcoming horror feature Walking Distance. James runs his production company Incendiary Features from Texas where he lives with his wife Allison and son JD.
Phlip Roy - Cinematographer/Editor
Director of Photography Philip Roy has shot over 150 short films, music videos, commercials, documentaries & feature films. His first feature The Lawless (through his film company 2 Productions) was completed with a jaw-dropping budget of just $7,500, going on to win multiple festival awards and receive distribution deals in countries all across the globe. Philip also recently lensed Walking Distance & 2:22. Philip has already created a name for himself for having vision and talent compared to famous cinematographers 20+ years his senior, and he is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after young cinematographers in North America.
